ESPN’s David Aldridge says Miami will not be a finalist in the postseason this year.
Aldridge is the ESPN analyst on The Drive podcast.
Aldrid was asked by host Mark Davis if the Heat are likely to have a playoff appearance in 2020, and he responded, “No, we are not.”
Aldridge also said he doesn’t expect Miami to make the postseason in 2021.
“I don’t know.
They are going to make it.
But I don’t think Miami is going to have the ability to make a run for a playoff spot,” Aldridge said.
“I don and I don.
I think they are going, I think, to have to try and go through that next year.
But it’s not going to be in 2020.”
Miami will host the Eastern Conference finals in 2021 with a 2-0 record, and Aldridge believes that Miami could make a playoff run in 2021 as well.
“If they are not a playoff caliber team, I’m not sure they will be able to do it again, and I think that would be the most disappointing thing,” Aldrid said.
Aldridge’s comments come after a number of reports indicated that the Heat might not have a championship team next season.
The team’s next opponent is the New York Knicks, who beat the Heat in the 2017 NBA Finals.
Aldrich was asked about that and his comments, and told Davis that he doesn.
NBA TV analyst Scott Van Pelt was also asked about the Heat’s chances in the playoffs, and said that “there’s a lot of teams that are just not playing well right now.
That could happen with the Heat.”
“The way I look at it is we have to keep playing,” Aldrich said.
