As we near the first anniversary of the Chattanooga shootings, the city’s mayor, Andy Berke, has been talking about how he wants to get the city back on track.
Here’s what you need to know about what’s happening in the city.
The city is a small town that has a large population of white, upper middle class families.
The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) has a long history of racial disparities, especially when it comes to shootings.
But they’re not new.
The department has had a reputation for racial bias since the 1980s, when officers were often accused of killing black people.
When the department was reorganized in 2002, the police department changed its name to the Chattanooga Police Force (CFP).
But the changes were slow and the department struggled to change culture.
The mayor’s office has made it a priority to rebuild trust with the community.
Berke has been pushing the city to do that through community outreach, education, and police reforms.
His goal is to build trust between the community and the police, and to reduce crime in the process.
So how can the city build on those reforms?
In 2016, the Chattanooga Crime Commission (CCC) created a task force to work on a plan for a police reform strategy.
The CCC is comprised of police chiefs, crime experts, and elected officials from across the city and is led by Berke.
It has been a collaboration between the mayor’s administration and the CCC.
The goal of the task force is to get people involved in shaping the police reform plan, to get input from the community, and then to report back to the mayor on how to move forward.
The task force will be tasked with creating a blueprint for a new policing strategy that will help bring people together to improve the safety and security of Chattanooga.
One of the things that the task team has found is that many officers and members of the community are not as familiar with how the CFP operates as they should be.
That’s a problem.
This task force also includes police union leaders and other experts from across our community.
They’ve come together and they’re working together to help create the new plan.
So it’s been a collaborative effort that has led to a new police reform process that we hope will provide the community a greater understanding of how we’re going to change policing.
This process was led by the City Attorney’s Office.
The City Attorney is a public defender, who has been in charge of the city during the transition to a citywide policing strategy.
He’s also the chief of police.
His office was a part of the transition and the city will be moving forward with this new strategy as part of that process.
This is a big, complex, multi-year process that requires collaboration between a diverse group of people, and it’s a team effort.
This new strategy is a partnership with a wide range of partners and will focus on four core areas: The first area is training.
Berk has said that police officers will be trained in a way that makes them more confident and that they’ll be able to use their abilities effectively.
The next area is accountability.
There will be a new system to track officer misconduct, and the community will be able see if the officers are following department policy.
The third area is a more proactive approach to crime prevention.
Officers will be more likely to intervene when a crime is reported, and they’ll also be better equipped to respond to calls when they feel that the situation warrants it.
Finally, there will be new initiatives to address racial disparities in crime, including: Investing in training to prevent bias, such as in the use of body cameras and the use by police of technology such as cameras that can track the movements of suspects and identify them in a flash.
Implementing policies that address race-based policing, such, for example, as the creation of a training program that will include racial equity training for officers and the development of a comprehensive policy to prevent police from using excessive force.
Berkel said that all of the police reforms he’s proposed will be designed to address issues related to the demographics of the CPD, including the number of African-American officers and white officers, the number and racial makeup of white officers and black officers, and whether or not there are racial disparities within the department.
He said that the strategy will include more data collection to improve policing and better use of technology to improve communications and data analysis.
The last area will be for the city, and that will be how we will make sure that our communities are safe.
