ARKANSAS CITY, Mo.
— Armed with a police vehicle and a $10,000 bounty on their head, armed gunmen armed with shotguns and rifles went door to door in eastern Missouri on Monday morning.
Police said they received reports that shots were fired in the area of the intersection of East Lake Avenue and South Main Street about 5:15 a.m. local time.
Police cordoned off the area.
Police caged off the intersection on South Main St. as officers began to respond to reports of shots fired.
A helicopter was seen over the area and a large number of officers were seen patrolling the area, with a SWAT team on the ground.
The armed gunmen were seen in the neighborhood and began shooting.
A man was shot in the ankle and a woman was shot several times.
The gunman was killed.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Police have not released any information about the location of the gunman, who they said is believed to be a member of the “Coastal Kansas City” or “Covenant” militia group.
